OUR STORY
From the Desk of the Founder
MADE IN B has been an idea for many years. It came about during my quest for products that were only made in Britain. Through my many adventures travelling from one end of Britain to another, I found myself meeting inspired artisans and discovering a huge variety of quality products made by companies and family-run enterprises who are keeping traditional heritage craft practices alive. Their fascinating tales and commitment to British craftsmanship was extraordinary. However, though these artisans existed, I was unable to find a one-stop shop for original British-made products.

That's when MADE IN B was conceptualised.

MADE IN B is a purpose-driven tech-for-good start-up that was launched in February 2020. An accidental academic path (yup I did a PhD!) and passion for all things ethical and sustainable, it was but a natural step for me to pursue a venture that focused on ethics and sustainability.
The identity behind MADE IN B is seated around three countries to which I have a close attachment and association – Britain (where I live), Bharat (the Sanskrit name for India, my ethnic connection) and Bhutan (to which I have a personal connection and call 'home'). As someone with profound regard for and sense of belonging to these cultural entities, and with deep-rooted personal values of social responsibility, the MADE IN B venture was developed with the aim to promote artisans and the local ecosystems within these regions and help create a positive impact on society.
It is my hope that this platform will act as a source for those seeking high quality, sustainable and ethical gifts and products made exclusively in Britain, Bharat and Bhutan. I aim to support all artisans and businesses that not only create products with a rich cultural and historical link, but whose work contributes to sustainability and their community spirit. They tell the world their story through their crafts, and you - the distinguished customer - get to experience the exquisiteness of a unique product.

Help me keep the story alive.
OUR AIM
At Made In B, we want to empower the artisans and local businesses and work with the local ecosystems to help create a positive impact on society. We aim to:
• Celebrate the rich and diverse work of artisans, and small businesses
• Support a wide range of local artists, craftspersons and manufacturers, focusing especially on preserving and reviving the local and dying arts, culture and traditional skills of these craftspeople.
• Promote an awareness and appreciation of British, Indian and Bhutanese crafts and products
• Generate interest towards artisan products, both locally and internationally – and share the cultural value and heritage of the respective regions.
• Provide a one-stop-shop for sustainable and ethical artisan products from Britain, Bharat and Bhutan.

OUR GOAL
Our goal is to connect ethically conscious buyers – those that share a commitment to social responsibility – with our imaginative artisans and inspired local businesses.

OUR MISSION
We aim to be a socially responsible organisation where we are committed to bettering the world and making a positive change in the society around us. Our motto is – if we can help even one artisan or community, then we are on our way to contributing to society.

THE MAKER
At Made In B, the products are handcrafted, manufactured and designed by local craftspersons and small businesses in the UK, India and Bhutan. Every product has a unique imprint of the maker and connects to their story – that of its cultural and historical making. And every purchase has an impact — helping build a special connection between the purchaser and maker.
OUR PRODUCTS
Each of our products tell a story – that of its maker, its city and historical background.
Our products are unique, high quality, eco-friendly, handcrafted , fairly-traded, ethically-sourced and sustainably produced. Crafted by independent co-operatives, emerging artists and small businesses, the products help support local communities, artists and artisans, and help keep alive traditional skills.
OUR SUPPLIERS
We aim to partner with organisations that operate their businesses with respect for people and planet.
We want to create a positive impact on society and so work with companies and organisations whose values align with ours. We are especially keen on working with women cooperatives, and organisations that support vulnerable populations and communities.
THE FUTURE
This is only the beginning. We have ambitious aims for the future. With a deep connection to social responsibility, we want to create an impact and a difference. So watch this space for some amazing things coming your way.
